ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY THE CENTER
Since the
establishment of the center in May 2006, it has so far made
a remarkable achievement through the following activities
designed and organized by the center. and through these
series of activities, a sense of awareness was created
towards the need of unity, brotherhood and understanding
among the Muslim community. Such activities are as follows:
CONFERENCES:
1. One day workshop
for 100 Imams from all administrative areas of The Gambia
was sponsored by the center in order to ratify the Supreme
Islamic Council's resolution on mosque management.
2. On behalf of the
center, the Executive Director was invited to the United
States of America to make presentations on the following:
THE ROLE OF A
MUSLIM WOMAN IN A NON-MUSLIM SOCIETY organized by
LOUISVILLE AFRICAN WOMEN ASSOCIATION
-LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY; USA.
BROTHERHOOD IN
ISLAM
organized by
GAMBIAN COMMUNITY IN RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA;
USA.
THE ORIGINAL FACE
OF ISLAM AND HOW THE IMPERIALISTS ARE PLANNING TO CHANGE IT
TODAY
organized by
GAMBIAN AND SENEGALESE COMMUNITIES IN
ATLANTA, MARYLAND AND WASHINGTON; USA.
3. The center has
organized a conference marking the International Day of al-Quds
under the following topics:
THE HISTORIC
BACKGROUND OF AL-QUDS
THE LEGAL ASPECT
ON THE OWNERSHIP OF AL-QUDS
THE ROLE OF
MUSLIMS TOWARDS AL-QUDS.
On behalf of the
center, the Executive Director made a maiden presentation in
Mina; Saudi Arabia during the period of Hajj calling all
Muslims to unite under the topic:
THE IMPACT OF HAJJ
IN THE HEARTS OF MUSLIMS.
SYMPOSIA:
1. The center
organized a symposium to demonstrate its firm solidarity
with the people of Lebanon in the wake of Zionist invasion
in Lebanon under the theme:
THE GLOBAL
YARDSTICK IN DEALING WITH THE ISLAMIC UMMAH.
2. On behalf of the
center, the Executive Director presented a paper in
solidarity with the parents and families marking the event
of the
QANA MARTYRS IN LEBANON
at the Hussainiyya in The Gambia.
ROUND-TABLE
TELEVISION PROGRAMS:
1. The center
organized a round-table TV program of Islamic scholars as
part of its activities marking the auspicious occasion of
the International Day of Quds.
2. The center also
made a press release on the issue of al-Quds through the
state television which was presented as headline in the
national news.
3. The Executive
Director presented a one hour program on talk show on behalf
of the center on the auspicious occasion marking the
martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS) and calling all Muslims to in
the country and beyond to come together and unite.
RADIO:
1. On behalf of the
center, the Executive Director aired a one hour program
through the state radio as part of the center's activities
to mark the international Day of Quds.
2. In observing the
martyrdom of Imam Husain (AS), the Executive Director
elucidated the dire need for Islamic unity, tolerance and
harmony among the various schools of thought and sects in
Islam.
